I picked this picture because it really stuck out to me there is alot of emotion in this picture. The photo has lots of elements to it most of them lie in the mans facial expression. The first element I would like to point out is the soot on the mans face, it destorts what he really looks like. The next element is the cigaret in his moth which would be common in the time of this photo. the next element would be the dark shade on the side of his face, it makes his look like an eary unhuman fugure. Then there is the building in the backround and the clothing the man is wearing.

This man is a mine worker, his daily life consist of living underground, digging into the earth. He is most likely a poor man, that spends most of his day in darkness, underground by day, above by night. I would almost assume his life is hard and depressing. I make my asumption from his deppresed dark pose in the picture. I feel this is what the photographer wanted to capture though.

As for vector, it again is all in his face, the photo was obviosly cropped for this reason. The man is staring closley and straight into the camera, poseing for the photo. The vector of attention I feel is the mans eye's they you feel as if they are staring straight into your eye's. It creates a sad and depressed mood that you cannot get away from. Then another vector I am drawn to is the cigarett in the mans mouth. To me this adds character to the photo, a cigarett is generally smoked by people in stressful situations just like the one this man is in. Another thing to point out would be the mans whole face, it is covered in soot. This makes him look unhuman, he looks like a some kind of monster.

Now I'm drawn to the building in the backround why did the photographer decided to get this in the shot. I think he did this to show where the miners work. The reason the building is so shadded and dark I think is to show the way the miners feel of the place. The daily activites there would be so repeditive and take a toll on your body. Many miners did not live long, especially back in the Great Depression era. This is because they did not know about the dangerous particels tthey were breathing in. This photo in essence is of pure deppresion and darkness exactly what the Great Depression was like when this photo was taken.

Photography Post

I personally do not have much experiance with photography and its analysis. I do know that I like slow motion photography, I grew interested in it when the Time Warp T.V series first came about. Now with the respects to this shot I find it very interesting. It shows four crayons being punctured by a bullet, these crayons and bullet are the vector of our attention. We are drawn to the crayons first they are centered as well as colorful. The crayons have the action in the shot they are exploding right infront of our eye's. This shot is what would be called an action shot, which is a photo that is not posed for but merely captured. This again is another reason why this photo is so appeling, because it has life to it, it is in the momenent.

Another vector choice in this piece is the color placement of the crayons and the time in which the photo is taken. This vector is something the photographer has to take into consideration when taking a photo. He has to ask himself is this going to be visually sensational to my audiance. The vector of attention here draws your eyes to the left this is because that is where the bullet is heading. The photographer needs to know which way he wants this vector of attention to go before the shot is taken.

Photography is also tricky because the photographer must know what he wants his audiance to see in terms of the position of the picture. Had this picture been taken from a vertical angle, it would totally change the look and feel of the picture. This picture is interesting in the angle taken in the shot, it is a side shot. This I think is the best approach that could of been taken by photographer. This is because it capture's the most action I feel.
