Comic post 1

During my search for a comic I came across this comic because its humor stuck out to me. The comic displays a comic strip of two penguins dressed like humans standing next to a blue furry ball with a face. The blue ball is the penguins pet and the penguin is trying to show his other penguin friend that the pet can sit. He asks his pet to sit but it does not move and the friend asks if the pet has sat, he responds saying "I have no idea."

This comic to me is to appeal to children and people with a sense of humor. The comic is very bright and the characters in the panels do not move much. The humor of the comic lies in this though. The transition from strip to strip is simple but it’s what creates the argument of humor. The blue pet does not have any legs and does not move at all through the comic. The penguin wants him to sit but you cannot tell if he is or not because he has no legs. This simple question and transition makes the ethos. There is also ethos in the penguin’s facial expressions and arm movements. The penguins express their feelings about the pet with their faces of confusion. So much emphasis is put on the penguins face because the background and they do not move throughout the whole strip.

The comic also makes its ethos through the using of nonhuman characters to create the humor of the comic. If this comic did not use penguins and used humans it would change the appeal of the comic along with the ethos. The penguins make this comic more childish and less serious, using the penguins draws in a younger crowd. The bright colors also make this a more interesting comic. The comic is to be simple and to the point, that is why the words and humor in the comic is so simple and straight forward. The author of the comic made it to be a quick laugh for the reader. The comic also uses the traditional comic format to show the transitions across the comic. This is the simple basic format that was first used in comics which fits along with this simple comic.

The typography this comic produces is an unsophisticated feel; it uses simple text and basic transitions. The comic has easy readability that basically any age will enjoy, or anyone with a sense of humor. The comic is very quick from beginning to end it should take you no longer than 10 seconds to read and understand its meaning.
